Youth Council of Nosara
The mission of the youth council of nosara is to Serve the community of nosara with projects that bring local teens entertainment, enrichment, and improved opportunities
Kitson Library brought together the Youth Council in September 2024, tapping into the adolescent community to help us better serve them. Then 10-member Council receives mentorship, training in leadership and professional skills, and guidance to help them design and execute projects that serve their community.
Supported by library Executive Director David Schreiner, Head Librarian Consuelo Suarez, and hand-picked mentors from within the community, the Council is working to make their voices heard, show how impactful they can be, and shape Nosara for the better.
They’ve selected their positions and have begun work on their first two projects, discussed below. And now we need your help to support this essential work.
WHAT ARE THEY WORKING ON
Council Members have chosen two projects to pursue for the remainder of the pilot program:
A University and Career Fair, bringing crucial education and career options directly to Nosara’s high school students.
Reviving a much-loved “summer school” program, providing education, care, and recreation to younger children in Nosara during the school break
How can you get involved?
We are still looking for exciting mentorship and training opportunities for council members. If you want to do more to help after donating, please email us at bibliodk@gmail.com and let us know if you know a local expert in leadership, professional skills, or anything else that might interest the council.
And if you know an amazing Nosara teen who should be a member, please email us recommending them. We will be working to build the 2025 council in the near future!
