PARTNERS
We have made incredible progress in the community working with our partners.
The Library serves as the administrative center and classroom for the entrepreneurship program Vive el SueΓ±o offered by an international foundation. This educational empowerment initiative provides NosareΓ±os skills for opening and sustaining small businesses. Hundreds of individuals have received the training and many have opened their own businesses.
The Library is a proud member of Friends of Nosara, an organization that brings together the different non-profits in the area to work on shared goals and maximize impact.
Every summer vacation since 2005, students from the Elkhart, Indiana Youth Rotary Outreach Program have spent a week during their summer vacations visiting Nosara and working to maintain the Library building. Over 250 volunteers have served the Library through this partnership.
The Library frequently organizes field trips to the Library for groups of students to listen to special speakers, check out books and read stories. The Library has partnered with local schools including Del Mar Academy, Escuela Santa Teresita, Escuela Serapio Lopez Fajardo, Liceo Bocas de Nosara, and Escuela Santa Marta.
When requested, students from the University of Costa Rica in San JosΓ© come to the Library to complete their community service requirements. The students work with children, adolescents and senior citizens on a range of skills and organize activities including but not limited to tutoring, talks, crafts, musical instrument sessions, and exercise groups.
Since 1998, Middlebury College in Vermont has sent 4 interns to teach English as a second language every January. The intensive course lasts one month and is taught to children, adolescents, and adults.
