✏️📚 Building confidence through writing! This year, a new writing component was added to the sixth-grade standardized exams, leaving many students and families feeling uncertain about what to expect. In response, the David Kitson Library partnered with teachers from Casa de las Estrellas and Escuela Serapio López to offer a special writing preparation course for sixth-grade students from Serapio López. Over six sessions, students practiced reader responses, strengthened their writing skills, and learned strategies for organizing and expressing their ideas clearly and confidently. We are grateful to the teachers from Casa de las Estrellas and Escuela Serapio López for sharing their expertise and helping students prepare for this important milestone. At the library, we believe that every student deserves access to the tools and support they need to succeed. 💻✨ New opportunities are beginning at the David Kitson Library! Our new computer course is officially underway, and we are excited to support community members as they gain practical digital skills that can help with work, small businesses, communication, and everyday life. Throughout the course, participants will learn about professional email, Canva and social media design, Google Drive and file organization, WhatsApp Business, social media content creation, and digital tools for customer service and tourism. They will also explore helpful Artificial Intelligence tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. These are valuable tools that can open doors, build confidence, and help people feel more prepared for today’s changing world and local economy. We are grateful to our instructor, Rachid, for sharing his knowledge and helping guide participants through this learning journey. 💻✨ ¡Nuevas oportunidades comienzan en la Biblioteca David Kitson! 📚☕❤️ A special morning at the David Kitson Library! Recently, high school students from Del Mar Academy, accompanied by their teacher Oscar, joined our Seniors Group for a meaningful gathering centered around memories, stories, and connection. Together they looked through old photos of Nosara from the 1970s and shared conversations about how life used to be, how the community has changed, and what makes Nosara so special. The students also generously brought coffee and delicious treats to share, making the morning even sweeter. We are grateful for opportunities like these that bring generations together, preserve local history, and remind us that everyone has something valuable to teach and learn. 📚☕❤️ ¡Una mañana muy especial en la Biblioteca David Kitson! Recientemente, estudiantes de secundaria de Del Mar Academy, acompañados por su profesor Oscar, compartieron un encuentro muy significativo con nuestro Grupo de Adultos Mayores. Juntos observaron fotografías antiguas de Nosara de los años 70 y conversaron sobre cómo era la vida antes, cómo ha cambiado la comunidad y qué hace tan especial a Nosara. At the David Kitson Library, we are always listening and responding to the needs of our community. Recently, several local high school students and adults acquiring their GED shared that they needed extra support studying for their upcoming math exam. In response, we organized group tutoring sessions to help make sure they have the tools and confidence they need to succeed. Education changes lives, and we are proud to provide a space where our community can continue learning, growing, and reaching their goals. En la Biblioteca David Kitson, siempre estamos escuchando y respondiendo a las necesidades de nuestra comunidad. Recientemente, varios estudiantes del colegio y adultos que estén cursando el Bachillerato por Madurez nos comentaron que necesitaban apoyo adicional para estudiar matemáticas. Como respuesta, organizamos sesiones grupales de tutoría para ayudarles a tener las herramientas y la confianza necesarias para aprobar sus exámenes. La educación cambia vidas, y nos enorgullece ofrecer un espacio donde nuestra comunidad pueda seguir aprendiendo, creciendo y alcanzando sus metas.

20 years ago, Juan took typing classes with Beverly at the Library. Today, the well-known "Juan Surfo" is a successful local business owner - and still connected to the place where it all began. Recently, Beverly visited him at his shop, where he shared a children's book inspired by his story. Moments like this are a reminder that the impact of the Library goes far beyond the present-it grows over time, in ways we don't always get to see. Hace 20 años, Juan tomó clases de mecanografía con Beverly en la biblioteca. Hoy, el conocido "Juan Surfo" es un exitoso empresario local y sigue vinculado al lugar donde todo comenzó. Recientemente, Beverly lo visitó en su tienda, donde él compartió un libro infantil inspirado en su historia. This Sunday, the David Kitson Library was happy to participate in a community event organized by Somos Nosara. The event brought together local organizations and community members to build awareness about the initiative and celebrate the spirit of giving back. Somos Nosara is committed to bringing people together to restore, activate, and care for the public spaces in the town center. We’re excited about the work they’re doing and were proud to show our support while connecting with other organizations serving our community. It was especially encouraging to see so many locals stop by—particularly later in the afternoon once the weather cooled down. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the day such a positive gathering for Nosara! — Este domingo, la Biblioteca David Kitson participó con mucho gusto en un evento comunitario organizado por Somos Nosara. El evento reunió a organizaciones locales y miembros de la comunidad para crear conciencia sobre esta iniciativa y comenzar con un espíritu de colaboración y aporte a la comunidad.
