✨ This year marks 20 years in our beloved library building! ✨ From humble beginnings in a local elementary school and later a small storefront, to the vibrant community space we know today — our journey has been possible thanks to you. This milestone also marks 20 years of our Seniors Group, which began the same year the building opened. We were thrilled to celebrate alongside our seniors, friends, partners, and supporters who have been with us since the beginning. Today, the David Kitson Library welcomes more than 15,000 visits each year, and together we continue to grow as a place of learning, culture, and connection for all ages. ✨ ¡Este año celebramos 20 años en nuestro querido edificio de la biblioteca! ✨ De los humildes comienzos en la escuela local y luego en una pequeña tienda, hasta el vibrante espacio comunitario que conocemos hoy — todo ha sido posible gracias a ustedes. Este aniversario también marca 20 años de nuestro Grupo de Adultos Mayores, que comenzó el mismo año en que abrió el edificio. Fue un honor celebrar junto a nuestros adultos mayores, amigos, socios y colaboradores que han estado con nosotros desde el inicio. Hoy, la Biblioteca David Kitson recibe más de 15,000 visitas cada año, y seguimos creciendo juntos como un lugar de aprendizaje, cultura y unión para todas las edades.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Marjorie 🌟 If you’ve ever joined our Soy Bebé program, watched the children’s baile folklórico group twirl in their colorful outfits, or brought your kids to Lectura Infantil, you’ve met Marjorie! 💛 Marjorie first joined the David Kitson Library in 2006, entering new books into our inventory, and in 2011 she began the Soy Bebé program—welcoming our youngest patrons and their families into the joy of early learning. Today, she also leads our children’s baile folklórico group and Lectura Infantil, bringing creativity, culture, and connection to the library. Thank you, Marjorie, for nearly two decades of dedication and heart! 📚💃👶 🌟 Destacando a Nuestro Personal: Marjorie 🌟 Si alguna vez has participado en nuestro programa Soy Bebé, has visto al grupo infantil de baile folklórico girar con sus trajes coloridos, o has llevado sus hijos a Lectura Infantil, ¡ya conoces a Marjorie! 💛 Marjorie se unió a la Biblioteca David Kitson en 2006, encargándose de ingresar nuevos libros a nuestro inventario. Happy Guanacaste Day! The library is closed today in honor of Guanacaste Day, a celebration of Costa Rica’s peaceful annexation of the Guanacaste province in 1824. It’s a day to reflect on our shared history and celebrate the culture, music, and traditions of Guanacaste. Enjoy these beautiful moments from recent folkloric dances by Library dance groups that brought our community together! We’ll reopen Monday with regular hours. ¡Feliz Día de la Anexión del Partido de Nicoya! La biblioteca está cerrada hoy en honor al Día de Guanacaste, una celebración de la anexión pacífica de la provincia de Guanacaste por parte de Costa Rica en 1824. ¡La semana pasada, más de 500 estudiantes participaron en la primera feria vocacional organizada por jóvenes, liderada por el Consejo Juvenil de Nosara! El evento se llevó a cabo en el colegio público de Nosara y en Del Mar Academy, y reunió a universidades, institutos técnicos y organizaciones sin fines de lucro de todo Costa Rica para compartir oportunidades—desde carreras y certificaciones hasta becas y programas virtuales. Estos jóvenes increíbles lideraron toda la iniciativa, con el apoyo de la biblioteca y de Lagarta Lodge, Harmony Hotel, Olas Verdes Hotel y Casa Romántica, quienes generosamente ofrecieron hospedaje y desayuno a nuestros invitados. La energía, emoción e impacto fueron increíbles—¡y las instituciones participantes ya pidieron reservar su espacio para el próximo año! Last week, over 500 students participated in the first-ever youth-led college fair, organized by the Nosara Youth Council! Held at both the local public high school and Del Mar Academy, the event brought together universities, technical institutes, and nonprofits from across Costa Rica to share opportunities—from degrees and certifications to financial aid and virtual programs. These amazing teens led the entire initiative, with support from the library and Lagarta Lodge, Harmony Hotel, Olas Verdes Hotel, and Casa Romantica who generously provided free lodging and breakfast for our our guests. The energy, excitement, and impact were incredible—and participating institutions have already asked to return next year.

A huge thank you to Sadie and Alicia from @guanavista_cr for their incredible support! These two amazing volunteers dedicated their time and energy to our English program, helping local learners build confidence and skills. Not only that—they recently hosted a fantastic fundraiser to help relaunch the Ostional high school book club! Thanks to their efforts, students once again have a space to read and connect, through literature.
